Kampen om oppmerksomheten - synlighet, kontroll og eksklusivitet
Drit & dra
Are you bloggers aware of the fact that you have an enormous amount of knowledge that companies would have killed for? Many of you discuss new product launches and innovations and discuss advantages and disadvantages of products and services. Thus, by discussing different companies and their products, you guys have the power to both kill a brand and improve its image. In other words; your online discussions might impact a company?s income and image in both positive and negative ways.
Today, millions of people are changing their habits when it comes to information acquisition due to blogging. This is not a new phenomenon; it has happened before with the appearance of among others the printing press or the Internet. Now the blogosphere has appeared, and it is no doubt that blogs have influenced the society. An example of the blogs? power is John Kerry and his battle with Swift Boat veterans, which was a major story fully covered by the mainstream media only after its exposure in blogs. The blogosphere is smashing the old media monopoly and giving individuals power in the market place. It has been an information reformation that has changed our world.
According to Robert Scoble and Shel Israel, the overall growth of blogging is among the fastest of any technology in history. This may be visualized by the fact that the number of blogs has been doubling about every five month since 2003. This communication form is changing the media world and will most likely lead to a publishing revolution in how journalism functions in our culture. This argument can be defended by the fact that readers increasingly doubt the authority of newspapers such as ?The Washington Post? or ?National Review?, despite their grand-sounding titles and large staffs. Moreover, people know that behind the curtain there are fallible writers and editors who are no more inherently trustworthy than a lone blogger who has earned a reader's respect. It is hard to underestimate what these changes have led to with regard to the journalism and its credibility. For as long as journalism has existed, writers have had one route to readers; they have needed an editor and a publisher. Blogging, however, bypasses this ancient ritual. Due to this, on can ask the question of why established writers should go to newspapers and magazines to get an essay published, when they can simply write it themselves, convert it into a PDF-file, and charge a few bucks per download?
